Parenting 101 – Top 5 Parenting Books…and why

Grace-based parenting by Tim Kimmel

We love anything Tim Kimmel has written. We’ve spoken with him, had lunch with him, and trust me – He’s the real deal! Of all his books… Grace-Based Parenting is our favorite!

One million arrows by Julie Ferwerda

Raise your children to live a BIG life. One that matters! Be careful if you read this one though… God may call you to actually live out your faith in how you raise your children. It’s challenging, life changing, and potentially world changing!

Bringing up kids without tearing them down by Kevin Leman

Again, anything from Kevin Leman! He’s a rock in the parenting realm! He’s funny, practical, and very sound in both research and experience.

Sacred Marriage

Strong kids come from strong homes. Strong homes come from strong parents and strong parents come from strong marriages! As a “family counselor”, the one topic I work with the most is marriages AND the #1 piece of advice I begin with comes from this book. “What if God designed marriage to make us holy instead of happy?”

The Family Road Map

This is not just a shameless plug. We wrote this workbook so that families can start off on the right path. It was designed to walk parents through the process of creating a vision and purpose for your family, create their family values, and encourages them to place these values on the calendar in such a way that they become integrated into everyday family life. (Seriously… these guys are awesome and I for one will own multiple copies of everything they write!)
